It was such a treat to hear from Meg yesterday. I always love when she pipes up and I LOVED the reminder of the abundant, full life readily available to us now. How easy it is to forget.
Last week, when I allowed my anxieties to consume me, not only did I take God up on His invitation to come and rest, but I handed Him my burdens and allowed Him to take over. Once again, I was blown away by what God is capable of doing here and now and by His lavish, abundant love. I stood still and I watched as He moved again and again, all while tenderly carrying me along the way.
Sometimes I think some problems are too trivial to hand over to God, or that I can handle them on my own, but in 1 Peter 5:7 we see that we are encouraged to, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
He cares for us. Tears are in my eyes as I write this, because so often the abundance of truth and assurances found throughout the Bible are too unbelievably good to be true. It's hard for me to fathom just how perfectly and attentively God is able to individually meet our needs. Daily, I'm blown away by the love and faithfulness of our God.
Check out the Amplified Bible's translation:
"Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully."
Cast the whole of your care on Him for you are cared for affectionately and watchfully. "Stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!" (1 Samuel 12:16)
